Please tell me about the caption. How the date was specified? It was written "昭和十二年 奉祝 建國祭" on the board. "昭和十二年" means 1937, 2597th imperial year. And one more question. "建國祭" meant the celebration of the building of Japan, 11th of February. I'm not sure what exact day this photo was taken, but it might not be 6th of March.

These are Maiko Girls or appentice Geisha from Kyoto with their distinctive Darari Obi (dangling obi) and Hikizuri Kimono, which have full hems that trail after the wearer. A beautiful photograph!

Hi there, I am currently writing an online article about the lives of Geisha women, the traditions and harsh lives that they follow. I want to educate and inspire what these women were about, and the lives they had to live. Please will you grant me with permission to feature this image in my article? Image credits will be provided alongside with a direct link to your work. Thank you, Emma
