Interestingly, the name of this B-29 is "Kagu Tsuchi" (the name of the Japanese god of fire), which, according to most reference sources was used on B-29s with the serial numbers 42-24737 and 44-61746. However, even with the photo currently reversed, it appears that the sequence of the last five digits for the aircraft captured in the photo above is "24739", presumably 42-24739. Perhaps this is simply another aircraft that wore the name without being recorded in most sources? Here is a photo of 44-61746 "Kagu Tsuchi" belonging to Flickr user fizzix:

    I've seen numerous pictures of Humpty Dumpty EP-N, but never this one. The plane did make it back to base, but the waist gunner was killed in the flak blast seen just over the ball turret.
