Interesting photo. Per en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Excelsior_Geyser the photo dates to 1888, and is the only known photo of the geyser in full eruption. Added to that article. Thanks for posting these!
American photographer Carol M. Highsmith, replicating, as well as possible, a pose at Yellowstone National Park in northwestern Wyoming by pioneer photographer Frances Benjamin Johnston, who inspired Highsmith's career (LOC)
