  I love this one, such a tranquil scene and so very atmospheric. The two waiting to go out fishing, the long well constructed rowing boats their rowlocks standing out clearly and refelectd in the still water, the little steam pinnace all covered up for the weather and the clarity of the whole thing? This is outstanding! I was wondering if the shade above the stack on the steam boat was early smoke but it is in fact nicely situated weed in the background! Another beauty NLI, so very well chosen to begin our day with!

  Leonard Wood (October 9, 1860 – August 7, 1927) was a physician who served as the Chief of Staff of the United States Army, Military Governor of Cuba and Governor General of the Philippines. Early in his military career, he received the Medal of Honor. Wood also holds officer service #2 in the Regular Army (John Pershing holds officer service #1). He was present at the 1906 First Battle of Bud Dajo. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leonard_Wood Colonel Arthur Hale Woods (January 29, 1870 – May 12, 1942) was an American educator, journalist, military and law enforcement officer. One of the most prominent police reformers during the early 20th century, he served as deputy New York City Police Commissioner from 1907 to 1909 and later became New York City Police Commissioner in 1914. During his time with the NYPD, he was largely responsible for initiating criminology and sociology in modern policing. In his later years, Woods worked with the Division of Military Aeronautics and was involved in government committees on unemployment under the administrations of Presidents Warren G. Harding and Herbert Hoover.
