(Portland, Ore.) 1881-current, September 03, 1916, SECTION FIVE, Image 62 with the caption: "Mrs. Waldo Pierce has qualified as an air pilot and is now the only woman in the United States qualified in that respect to join the Army flying corps. That is her ambition. Mrs. Pierce has a husband who is working with the American Ambulance in France. As Dorothy Rice she was for years a motorcyclist and was frequently in the courts for speeding."
