The following news item appeared in the December 10, 1919, Charlotte (North Carolina) News: Charlottesville, Va., Dec. 10 – Hewson Michie, right-end of this season's University of Virginia football team, was Tuesday elected captain of the 1920 eleven. Michie, a native of Charlottesville, was gassed while fighting in the Argonne Forest with the 29th Division."
