Mary Pickford Christening Transcontinental Air Transport's Ford Trimotor (5-AT-B) "City of Los Angeles" (NC9646; c/n 5-AT-9) at Glendale Airport for T-A-T's coast to coast service on July 8, 1929. As captured in this series of photos in the SDASM's Luqueer collection, Charles Lindbergh piloted the flight, which also included his wife Anne Morrow Lindbergh as a passenger. Here is British Pathé newsreel coverage of the event posted at YouTube: YouTube - British Pathe - "New Air And Rail Transport Service (1929)" Additional photos: www.flickr.com/photos/sdasmarchives/4835565202/ www.flickr.com/photos/sdasmarchives/4835565012/ www.flickr.com/photos/sdasmarchives/4834956015/ www.flickr.com/photos/sdasmarchives/4834956043/ These photos were taken next to T-A-T's "City of Washington" (NC9644; c/n 5-AT-7), which was also present at the ceremony, and (I suspect) acted as the camera ship for the photos and footage of "City of Los Angeles" in flight in this collection. www.flickr.com/photos/sdasmarchives/4834956273/ www.flickr.com/photos/sdasmarchives/4834956193/ www.flickr.com/photos/sdasmarchives/4834955843/ www.flickr.com/photos/sdasmarchives/4835564958/ Another photo in the SDASM collection confirming the presence of NC9644: www.flickr.com/photos/sdasmarchives/4729153180/
