Readily apparent are the turrets and the straight pipe exhaust of the XP5Y-1. There are no turrets on the R3Y-1 or R3Y-2. For the R3Y, the exhaust also is open on the top of the wing, as if someone took a wood plane, and shaved off the top of the engine nacelle, leaving two channels on each nacelle. And R3Y-2 had a completely different forward fuselage, with a lift up bow loading door..
