Tees pilot boat

[http://www.flickr.com/photos/stanlaundon] We have a photograph of the S.S. Danby, which you can see in our photostream. We also have a scan of the capacity plan for the Danby, which shows such detail as a profile of the ship showing the internal arrangements of the holds and different decks, the rigging arrangements and derricks, water and ballast tanks, dimensions and tonnage of the vessel and a table detailing the capacity of the holds. The Second Engineers cabin can be seen on the Bridge Deck.

My own father was chief engineer on the Tees Pilot after the second world war. He did serve as second engineer with the Ropner Shipping Company and sailed on many of their vessels. The last ship he was on was the "S.S.Danby" which was registered in West Hartlepool. When he left the Merchant Navy he spent some time on the Tees Pilot. I would suggest this would have been about the early 1950s.
