I was at first surprised by how clean and bare the overhead and bulkheads are in this photo. No wires, cable-ways, junction boxes, breakers... Then I realized this was before the days of electronics at sea.

As a Marine Engineer I can see the beauty in simplicity of this era, but I have to say I'm happier at sea with everything being monitored 24/7, these were the days of great engineering and ingenuity ,great photo.
