This reminds me of a sketch my grandpa made. He went to sea from Grimstad in 1894 at 14 years old. I wonder if he sketched it from memory.

And actually the Norwegian spelling would be "Gol stavkirke", and it is not located in Oslo, but in a city called "Gol"

This is the church from Gol, but it was moved to Oslo (Christiania) in 1884, to be a part of King Oscar II's outdoor museum, now called Norsk folkemuseum (Norwegian folk museum). Gol does have it's own stavekirke now, which, bizarrely, is a copy of this one, that was built in the 1990s.
