  per Wikipedia, "In 1914, the Vaterland was caught in port at Hoboken, New Jersey at the outbreak of World War I and interned by the United States." She stayed in Hoboken until she was seized in 1917, so I think the date on the negative is accurate. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hamburg_America_Line
