Another odd photo, the Sopwith 1A2 has had its serial painted out but has kept its front line camo. The one behind has a training unit code but no camo at all. By the time US AEF arrived in France no Sopwith remained in frontal use. Stig

World War One Aircraft crash Sopwith Strutter

For information... Sopwith 1 1/2 Strutter 9706 was accepted 30/11/1916 as a Type 9700 Single Seat Bomber, received by 3 Wing at Luxeuil 16/12/1916, coded '2', moved with 3 Wing to Ochey 24/12/1916, transferred to French government 20/4/1917 and later captured by the Germans, date unknown. It appears to have either retained its 3 Wing code in French service, or been lost soon after transfer.
