    Hard not to feel great compassion for this poor woman, interesting to see her ears pierced, and the clothing and hairstyles worn at this time.

    Someone in North Shields Constabulary took pride in his (almost certainly *his*) calligraphy. Apart from maybe a one-line note of her hatch, match and despatch in parish records, this photo, recording this desolate moment in her life seems a pretty bleak memorial, in common with the others in this gallery.
