Land based torpedo tubes? Or are they just being stored there before being fitted on a ship?

They might have been there for torpedo trials. We recently added an image of a torpedo being fired from a similar spot www.flickr.com/photos/twm_news/18855229355/in/dateposted/.

These are great! I wonder if any old strays are still embedded in the mud on the opposite side?? I recognised the torpedo tubes immediately. Although updated, modern tubes use an almost identical discharge system. Armstrongs was a world leader.
