View from Newcastle Swing Bridge, 1976

What a timeless scene. I hope these old buildings are still standing.

Most of the distant buildings have gone Alan. It was mostly warehousing and was rebuilt with flats and hidden car parking. There's also a new building at the mid way point which is Newcastle Crown Court. The ships and boats don't moor there now unless it's for special occasions such as the Tall Ships Race. This photo was taken at the end of a very hot summer in the UK. So bad that I had sun stroke! I reccommend a visit to the city if you're ever up this way - it's a fantastic mix of architecture, nightlife and very friendly people. It's also on the edge of Northumberland - a jewel in the UK and known for its castles and coastline.

I would have been there with a school trip at around that time! Part of a geography course.
