From the Jews in Sports site: "Rosenbaum, William The first known Jewish player to achieve an American ranking, William didn't play tennis full-time due to his prolific dental practice. Dr. Rosenbaum later became the chairman of the New York Oral Surgery Society, but remained close to the game by officiating at times. Birth and Death Dates: b 1888 - d. Sept. 16, 1951 Career Highlights: Rosenbaum was 63rd as the first American ranked Jew and had a career best ranking in class three of No. 31-No. 40 in 1914-1915. Even though he graduated from the New York University College of Dentistry, William managed to win the National indoor doubles championship twice and was runner-up in the National indoor singles championship in 1914. Later in his career, Rosenbaum won five National outdoor senior doubles crowns. "
