More correct would be to say that the crew was rescued. This Italian built Dornier Wal was in fact sunk by gunfire off Grenland on Aug 25th. Stig

This is the single built Fokker F.V. Since this, and a few other shots are publicity or "standard" photos, it looks like Mr Lowe exchanged photos whenever he could. Stig

Biplane convertible to monoplane, 360 hp Rolls-Royce Eagle, exhaust pipe over windows provided cabin heat. Good info and some interesting but very poor quality photos here www.dutch-aviation.nl/index5/Civil/index5-2%20F5.html

A Vickers Type 61 Vulcan powered by a Rolls-Royce Eagle VIII rated at 360 hp. This fifth production sample of the Vickers Vulcan was first delivered as a cargo carrier but was later changed to an 8-seat passenger aeroplane. Belief it or not this machine, G-EBEM, was entered in the 1922 King's Cup Air Race and finally was placed 7th. As this picture is labeled as K.L.M. picture the location maybe Schiphol airfield near Amsterdam, although there are no distinctive features of this airfield visible on this picture.
