St Oswalds Church can be seen centre left in front of the Cathedral and the picture was probably taken from the Mountjoy / Hallgarth area on the Southern edge of the city.

Seems to be taken from 54.769652,-1.567869 (WGS84) looking 307* NW. The street in the foreground is the junction of Hallgarth St with Stockton Rd. Some of the houses on Hallgarth St are still there today.

This one is hard, but if B-59s is indeed a reverse view, it looks like Connemara North of Maam Cross somewhere,

I thought this scene reminded me of the countryside east of Waterville, Co. Kerry, but the mountains look wrong. Some of you may be interested in this piece about the ‘Photo Detectives Exhibition’ that I wrote for the Irish Catholic newspaper.

Niall McAuley Interesting. I'd have thought it was the glens of Antrim - up the back of Glenarm or similar. Edit: Although if catalogue.nli.ie/Record/vtls000564089 is also near, it's down the west alright - we had that one before and it was Sligo or Connemara, I think Edit edit: Or possibly Wicklow, now I come to think of it.
