Hello pennylrichardsca (now at ipernity) melinda_ackles. We forwarded your questions to our curator, asking about this strange machine! According to the curator, there are no details about the photo, but because the photo was taken on campus it would not have been an iron lung. There is another photo in the collection with the same woman weighing a baby: he-photos.library.cornell.edu/image.php?record=99 Curator’s guess is that maybe the equipment measured respiration, such as a spirometer?
