ɹǝqɯoɔɥɔɐǝq Was that the day the boat/raft was originally discovered though, rather than photographed? 1944 is when this series of photos was taken. Though would the "braft" have been left in situ after its discovery?

I wonder ...
At a meeting of Kildare County Council on 30th April 1941, £2000 was allocated topeatturf production. In particular:Mr. M. O’Rourke stated that in the Eagle Hill and Iron Hill districts of Suncroft owners of bogs were not in the habit of utilising the turf banks, and he was sure if they were approached that they would let the banks to the Council. The Chairman suggested that as no Parish Council existed in Suncroft. the people should get together and call a meeting. If they got the thing going the County Surveyor would give every cooperation. The County Surveyor (Mr. John Rorke) pointed out that the Council were to communicate with the Parish Councils, but he had heard nothing since. Chairman—Some Parish Councils exist only in name.
(Leinster Leader - Saturday 3 May 1941)
I imagine that increasing turf digging (after dealing with administrative hurdles) would increase the likelyhood of finding ancient artefacts. -

National Library of Ireland on The Commons Photo could even have been taken by a local at the time, as the ITA held regular photo competitions for its readers.
Photo wasn’t used in their trade magazine, as far as I can tell, so no context.
