The Sheba Temple

from The National Archives UK

There is a typo in your item description. It should be "Temple" not "Temble". You've got it write in the tags. Also, "shiba". Perhaps the author made the mistake originally, but I think this should be cleaned up for the public -- it will help you in web searches etc. Here's a copy of the stereoview on Flickr, which pegs the date as 1905:

Yes, it's a typo on our catalogue. I'll drop the team an email. Thanks for the stereoscope - very nice.

Simply stunning to see these shots hundred years after the fact. They seem so fresh and clear and considering the conditions and equipment there and then, I think they are humbling for today's photographers.

@J e n s - considering the conditions, the equipment and the downright enormous gloves I have to agree - they're almost miraculous. -- Courtney

Just want to say a huge thank you for making your collection available - I have used this and a number of other photographs from this amazing album for a 'Voice' in our '50 Monuments in 50 Voices' project, focusing on the memorial to Scott, Wilson, Bowrers, Oates and Evans at St Paul's Cathedral, London. So yes, THANK YOU :-) (pantheons-st-pauls.york.ac.uk/50-monuments-in-50-voices/g...)
