You can see from this photo that the platform on the left is the one and only remaining after the sex-duplication of the train line. The side nearing the old tram sheds (in this photo) is still largely dirt, the expansion of the lines in the early 20th century caused the resumption of this land for an additional track and reconfiguration of this platform, ultimately removing the platforms on the middle and right and adding again an additional train track between to allow 6 tracks pass through. This resumption of land also included a nearby street called Crescent street, which was west of the over line bridge, evidence of this streets existence can be made by the odd placement of a Double storey terrace which fronts directly on to the additional track. Now in 2010-2011 further resumption of the tram shed land is being used to provide an easy access to Newtown station, adding a lift, and demolition of the existing island canopy. Does anyone have a good photo of Crescent street before the resumption in 1927?

ah that explains the house(s) that face the tracks. I used to see them on the train to school. are they still there?

Yes, the terrace house is still quietly there.

And here's the station on 1-7-11. There is actually provision for a future platform underneath the new concourse, the idea being passengers would alight on one side of the southern track and board on the other side of the same track.

I once got stuck down there for hours when I managed a right on a test train but there was a problem with the points. My parents weren't happy when I got in for tea hours late. I was just babbling on about having been down the Metro tunnels on a train.
