Captain E E Lysaght's brother had died/been killed about a year previously. A letter of condolence from the officers of the National Volunteer Barracks at Raheen Manor was published in the Limerick Echo of Tuesday 19 January 1915 signed by Captain Charles Phillips, along with a reply from Captain Lysaght.

Raheen Manor belonged to the Lysaght family. Country Life on Saturday 16 March 1912 had a picture of a pine marten which had been found in a trap by Mr E Lysaght "on the estate of his father, Mr. S R. Lysaght, Raheen Manor, County Clare"

And the Lysaghts made their money with Iron. About the war poet S. L. Lysaght, Newcastle Journal of Wednesday 31 March 1915 says "Mr Lysaght is a member the iron firm that bears his name, and has residences at Backell Down Hall, Somersetshire, and at Raheen Manor, County Clare, Ireland. "
