A great photo. Looks like a bunch of birdwatchers on an expedition. Thanks.

Ac article in the Wexford People of Wednesday 12 June 1907, in a section subtitled "A miserable night on Saltee", reports that a group of rabbit-shooters had recently been marooned for a night on the island - "a heavy fog cut them off upon desolate Saltee from all association or communication with the outside world", however they did find "the old disused farmhouse, once the residence of a hardy farmer who lived on the island". So no one (apart from the odd castaway) lived on the island in 1907. A Mr Martin Pierce, owner of the Mill Road Iron Works, fell ill as a result of the ordeal and died a few days later.
