Say, this looks to be in the 1970s or something. A civilian owned P-38L... I wonder where this plane is today? Love p-38's! Seen one fly over several times... Magnificent aircraft!

Lockheed P-38L-5 44-27183 c/n 8187, modified to F-5G-6-LO. Post war as N62441 it was extensively modified by AirResearch of Los Angeles in 1954 for Mark Hurd Aerial Surveys with a pressurized two seat cockpit and custom photo nose.

After a dizzying array of owners and registrations, it ended up at the Yanks Air Museum in Chino. Some confusion over the original USAAF serial number exists, some sources listing it as 44-53012. It is now restored, reportedly in airworthy condition but not flown, with the original F-5G camera nose.

my favourite American aircraft of all time . have built several kits of these- with a couple more to do yet. I think its the cockpit 'bath tub' that makes it for me.

Sad to see such a beautiful airplane so poorly maintained.
