The opening day of the 1913 World Series at the Polo Grounds, Philadelphia Athletics vs New York Giants. First pitch thrown by John Brush Hempstead. (Ref: www.baseball-almanac.com/ws/yr1913ws.shtml) I can't find any mayors of New York or Philadelphia with a name similar to Rone. I found a Philadelphia lawyer named Francis F. Kane who was defeated for mayor in 1903. Hope someone else can place Mr. Rone/Kane at the 1913 World Series.

This was the first (and last) "Running of the Mayors". Here, you see them standing next to a race official, moments before they started galloping for the prize at the end of the track, an enormous gilded vase filled with cash, booze and flapper girls. Mr. Rone won the foot race, but the event drew so much criticism that the race, and the former mayor, were erased from the history books.

He isn't the Ex-mayor, the "X' is the standard Bain method of showing who in the image is named in the text. It should read "Mayor Kline". en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1913_World_Series

This must be Ardolph Kline, who was acting mayor after Gaynor died in 1913: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ardolph_Loges_Kline
