    Albert Sidney McLemore (May 23, 1869—July 13, 1921) was an American officer serving in the United States Marine Corps during the Spanish–American War. He was approved to receive the Marine Corps Brevet Medal for bravery but died before it could be presented. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Albert_S._McLemore

    These Marines had recruiting and publicity responsibilities. This was apparently taken on the set of a recruiting film made by the Edison Company in Mineola, N.Y. The Recruiter's Bulletin for November 1917 ran this photo with the caption; "SOMEWHERE IN MAKE BELIEVE BELGIUM US Marine officers watch street fighting during the filming of "Three Things." Left to rt. Major H.H Kipp, Colonel A.S. McLemore, Major WH Parker and Captain TG Sterritt." "The Edison Company has fashioned a remarkably lifelike representation of a Belgian village somewhere near Mineola NY. Stucco concrete and other materials have been used;heavy wooden signs swinging from iron supports and marked with Belgian captions indicate hotels and public places; there is a cobbled street where the fighting takes place and the whole conveys an impression of 16th Century architecture that would be very hard to find elsewhere in the United States. They have also built a dug out in their Bronx NY studio that is the last word in realism.
