    As previously mentioned this photo is reversed. The shadow/double exposure seems to be of the BHP which would not be in that position in the photo.

Newcastle Beach

    This is in reality a photo Nobbys Beach and taken from Nobbys headland just below(or at) the signal station/lighthouse. It is interesting to note the old railway on the beach. This was used to construct the breakwater between Nobbys beach and the (then) Nobbys island. Incidentally, Newcastle beach is approx. 1 km over the hill (Fort Scratchly) in the upper left of the photko.

    It is interesting to note that Horseshoe Beach (on the other side of the breakwater through the centre of the image) is now completely filled with sand and is no longer a horseshoe.
