This is George V of England, who traveled to India in December 1911 to be installed as King-Emperor of India. As a keen and expert shot, he was anxious for a hunting trip. After the ceremony in Delhi, he went north to Nepal. See anulib.anu.edu.au/subjects/ap/digilib/sasia/tig/tig_about... for more about the hunt and dspace.anu.edu.au/manakin/handle/1885/43307 for a picture of the king mounting what appears to be the same elephant. Also see a Dec 23, 1911 dispatch from London in the NYT: query.nytimes.com/gst/abstract.html?res=9B0CE1D81E31E233A...

How come this is tagged in Nepal? In Pokhara there is an amazing organization where they weave and this organization works with around 60 - 100 women to help them in their situation of poverty. They are based in Pokhara Nepal, there is also another organization like that one on the border of nepal-India, called SEEMA. Rupaidihaseema.org
