Beautiful

Based on the almost legible sign in this picture, the fancy one on the left was Indian, and I think presented either to or by Field Marshal Lord Gough.

Also, I can only see 3 pieces of artillery...

Apparently, there were 4 guns presented to Lord Gough by the East Indian Company, and his son lent/gave 2 of them (howitzers) to the Museum. They're now at McKee Barracks, outside the officers' mess.

Leaving aside the cannons, his was taken in the Rotunda of what's now the NMI - Archaeology, on Kildare Stret. The zodiac mosaic is still there, even if the statues and artillery have been replaced by the Museum Shop.

It's from after around 1890 or later as the museum opened it's doors on 29th August of that year.

We also have a photo apparently of Mr Croker's horse, called 'Mr Boss' in our Poole Imperial photographs, but unfortunately it's not digitised yet.

FUNERAL OF MR. CROKER: - The funeral of Mr. Richard Croker took place yesterday [May 5, 1922], when the body was buried in the grounds of Glencairn House, Mr. Croker's residence in South County, Dublin. After a Requiem Mass in the private oratory, the burial service was conducted by the Right Rev. Dr. W. J. Miller, Roman Catholic Bishop of Eumenia. The body was clothed in evening dress, and before the coffin was closed Mrs. Croker desired the mourners to look at her husband's face for the last time. The coffin was covered with a pall made of natural violets and evergreen. The pall-bearers were Mr. Arthur Griffith, President of Dail Eireann, the Lord Mayor of Dublin, Mr. A. H. Flauley, of Chicago, Mr. Oliver Gogarty, Alderman Macdonagh, and Mr. J. E. Tierney.
