** translation of describtion ** Repatriates. Woman and child with buckets are passing baracks at residence De Schattenberg near Assen, where laundry is hanging to dry. This picture was made during an excursion for the media/press to residences of repatriates in Drenthe and Gelderland. Peculiar note on the backside of the picture: " The baracks at de Schattenberg are situated in the middle of the Moorland in Drenthe and the resident do not have any shortage of nature around them." Het voormalig doorgangskamp Westerbork werd na de oorlog het opvangkamp voor de Molukse KNIL-militairen, de Schattenberg. Aanvankelijk werden zij hier met hun gezinnen voor slechts een half jaar ondergebracht. Veel mensen in dit kamp leefde uit een koffer om zodoende ieder moment terug naar Indië te kunnen vertrekken.
