We had those third of a pint bottles of milk as well, they were awful. There was no refrigeration so in the summer the milk went off in the heat, in winter the bottles were stored on the radiators to stop the milk freezing solid and so it went off. The opposition might have taunted "Maggie Thatcher, milk snatcher." but the children forced to drink the stuff rejoiced.

We liked it & I don't remember it ever being off.

br@mbly Your school probably stored it better. Mine had no refrigeration, so on hot days in summer it sat in the sun, warmed up and went off. In winter it froze in the early morning frost, was layered on the old fat radiators to melt, became luke warm and went off.

Highgate Hill: 2km south, high-density suburb probably named because of its undulating hills. Highgate is also a London landmark. The Torbreck building on Dornoch Terrace is Queensland’s first residential high-rise apartment, built in 1960. Source: hicksrealestate.com.au/secret-history-brisbanes-suburbs-z/
