    Fort Ogilvie?
  • Halifax Municipal Archives said:
Yes! [https://www.flickr.com/photos/39418963@N05] is right. We have another image of Fort Ogilvie from a different angle from a few months earlier (CR63.3) that shows it is the same place. Thanks! Compare this to what remains when you next walk through Point Pleasant Park! These were busy places during wartime.

Military construction of gun batteries at Duncan's Cove

  • rdorey11 said:
    Is this McNabs Island?
  • James Kyte said:
This is the Duncan's Cove gun battery. The three gun positions can be seen in current aerial photographs incorporated into the private residences at the end of Windship Ln.
  • Halifax Municipal Archives said:
Not McNabs, but a look at Google satellite view of Windship Ln, Duncan's Cove seems to verify James Kyte . Thanks so much! We will add that to our database.

Aerial View of waterfront light Anti-Aircraft Batteries, Yorkshire

I believe this is the York Shore battery at York redoubt.
  • Halifax Municipal Archives said:
Thanks Peter Ziobrowski , your note encouraged us to question the label (Yorkshire?) and look more closely at the topography and buildings. After comparing it with other aerials of York Redoubt from that time period (7046.sydneyplus.com/archive/final/Portal/Default.aspx?com...) we agree that the image is looking inland over York Redoubt.
