Now known as Sarsfield Barracks it is an Irish Army Barracks in Limerick City. It houses both Permanent and Reserve Defence Forces. The barracks is named after Patrick Sarsfield, and is currently the Head Quarters of units of the Southern Brigade Reserve Defence Forces. The march composer Kenneth Alford was posted here with the Royal Irish Fusiliers. See more images and hear his march at link, www.youtube.com/watch?v=dSGttA6IwC4

Ah yes, I remember it well. The building just out of sight on the right was the Officers Mess, the PE/Assembly hall is that building at the end of the square with the glass cupola on top. The buildings on the left were matched with similar buildings on the right and were the billets where the troops lived.

We have not seen many soccer pitches on this stream from memory this is only the second one. Soccer was always associated with the garrison towns.

There is a reverse-ish view showing the quarters and balcony Mr French / Lawrence was on. Probably a different visit because of the leaves on the trees. - catalogue.nli.ie/Record/vtls000332056 And another later photo with more young trees - catalogue.nli.ie/Record/vtls000316688
