Lots of history here, Several additions have been made to this building, but the outside of the main building that you see here still looks about the same. If your Mennonite, or even if your not you should check this church out if your in the Smithville Ohio area. Very welcoming church. I used to attend this church [ I live on Coldwater Michigan now] but still have family members who attend here.

Thanks for your comments! I will add that we also have records from this congregation in the archival collections (Oak Grove Mennonite Church Records, 1751-2002. III-35-17, 6.5 linear feet). The earliest record, a book of sermons associated with the congregation, predates the congregation itself by about 70 years. "Lots of history here" -- very well said.

This is Howard Daniel Hercus Showalter (1882-1969), who generally went by H.D.H. Showalter. He was a lifetime member at Trissels Church in Broadway.

Initially I expected to see men and women setting on separate sides of the church. The photo looks old. I guess not that old.

The photo is 64 years old. Modern photography emerged around 1840, so I guess this is a middle-aged photograph ;-)
