Caption is incorrect. CORRECTED. This is an American Airlines McDonnell Douglas MD-11, as distinguished from the DC-10 by the winglets, stretched fuselage, and smaller horizontal stabilizer.

After flying for Delta from 1996 to 2004, the aircraft would be purchased by Federal Express (FedEx) and converted to MD-11F Freighter configuration in 2006. Sadly, this aircraft would flip over and be destroyed in a crash landing at Tokyo Narita Airport (NRT / RJAA) in Tokyo, Japan on March 23, 2009, resulting in the deaths of the aircraft's two pilots.
