There is another Hall photo signed and dated on this site, which is full of info about the shipwreck - www.michaelmcfadyenscuba.info/viewpage.php?page_id=68 " The only life lost was that of the ship's cat which refused to leave the stricken vessel. " Evidently the ship's bell turned up on eBay a few years ago ...

  Ahh thanks Beachcomber :) So the NMA has a print of that Hall image from the scuba site, dated 2/4/1931. They look as though they were taken on the same day bit.ly/XaL1kl. I wonder if Hall and Samuel Hood ran into each other out at the wreck site?!?

  Australian National Maritime Museum on The Commons Apologies - I failed to notice that the other photos were by Samuel Hood - oops. I don't know how long the wreck took to break up to this stage; the actual shipwreck happened on Thursday 2 April, and all over the Easter weekend huge crowds (500,000+) came to look. I imagine Hall and Hood were competing with each other to flog souvenir photos!
