Single masted passenger vessel near shore

Shouldn't that be "single _masted_ vessel", as in having one mast? All vessels have only one "master", the ship's captain. The vessel's mainmast appears to be missing, leaving only the mizzen.

I agree with the curator's comment at the persistent URL that this shipo is a coal loader, therefore it is unlikely to any longer be a passenger vessel.

it does appear to have been loaded with coal at the time of this photo but this ship had previously been a navy ship, notice the gun deck port hole covers have cut-outs for the cannons...

It is probably a former frigate hulked for use as a fuelling jetty. HMS Warrior, now preserved at Portsmouth, UK, only survived to today because she remained in use as an oiling jetty until her historical value was recognised and she was rescued. Please add to: Naval History
