    Lores Bonney (pronounced ‘Lor-ee’) is a name unfamiliar to many Australians, yet she was a pioneering aviatrix who dodged death on a number of record-breaking solo flights across the globe. Thankfully, for historians, Bonney kept meticulous notes of her trips – even recording entries at 10-minute intervals during flights. Brisbane pilot Lores Bonney broke many records during the 1930s, narrowly cheating death several times.
