This is the aircraft used by Lincoln Beachey to perform his loop -the- loop stunts in 1913. It was built by Beachey and James LaMont at the Curtiss factory in Hammondsport, New York. The engine is a Curtiss of 90-100 horsepower. " The machine is heavily wired with 3/32 inch Roebling wire .. The front and lateral spars are double - heavy , about 1 1/2 inches by 3 inches.. The wings spread 24 feet 3 inches overall, built in three sections each, 9 feet x 6 feet 3 inches X 9 feet. The separation between planes is 5 feet 6 inches... A belt comes from the bottom of the seat and up over Beachey's lap to hold him in while upside down.. In addition , there is a shoulder strap..." ( Aeronautics Nov. 1913)
