Higgins Industries, Inc., New Orleans, La., makes torpedo boats and other boats for the Navy (LOC)

  Higgins made the flat-bottom boats used by the Americans for the Normandy invasion. The D-Day Museum in NOLA has a big exhibit about them.

  This appears to be one of the Higgins buildings on the Industrial Canal. The last of these buildings were torn down in the 60's.

  Yes, we are very lucky that all of these photos survived thanks to Donald Carson! As part of the donation, he also had a copy of Eisenhower's message to the Allied forces on the eve of D-Day. Carson even met Eisenhower a couple of days before the invasion.
