'Irish Travellers' is the polite term, though Romany gypsies call them by a less polite name. The tent is called a 'bender', and is modelled on the Romany 'tan'.

Great post war vintage. They are not believed to be Roma or Drom 'gypies' having working seasonally and travelled in Ireland for centuries , more recently England. "I hope this Blog will become a collection of some of the living Irish Traveller (Tinker or Pavee ) traditions I've being lucky enough to encounter and perhaps even some of the random moments that grace my life with a sense of personal order... sure, time will tell :) " barefootpavee.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html Kildare County Council Library Services Celebrating Inclusion and Cultural Diversity www.youtube.com/watch?v=bzmYCP2jvfY&feature=player_em...
