  My brother and I ( two teenage boys with no interest in botanical gardens ) got into trouble at McKee Jungle Gardens, in the early 1960s. We passed the time waiting for Mom and Dad to complete their tour by feeding potato chips to the peacocks that wandered the parking lot. Some woman on the staff had a fit, telling us the chips, in quantity, could poison the birds.
