Medal Index Card shows he arrived in France on the 15th December 1914. He was a career soldier who is listed in the 1911 Census as serving with the 13th Hussars in Meerut, India aged 26.

From London Gazette 23 Feb 1917: Capt B Neame Hrs from Staff Capt to DAAG 14 Feb 1917, Temp appt. LG 29958. Then in LG 30784 of 5 Jul 1918; AAG appointments, Bt Maj B Neame Hrs from DAAG at the War Office to remain seconded and to be temp Lt Col whilst so employed effective 29 May 1918. Post Armistice LG 31595 has Capt and Bt Maj B Neame 18th Hussars to be Major effective 6 Sep 1919; which is superseded by LG 31639 back-dating the promotion to 24 Aug 1919.//
