This looks like Oak St / Capricorn Highway , the Barcaldine train station on the left, Artesian hotel, and possibility the tree of knowledge,

possibly Railway hotel , Shakespeare hotel

The town’s first post office was built in 1932. The original post office, however, was located in another area and was built in 1854. This building was a purpose-designed post office for the Commonwealth Postmaster General. What makes this building particularly significant is that only seven of the ‘twin porch’ post offices were ever built in Queensland. This is the only one with a clock tower. chilling, as a former Seaforth member, Canadian- Vancouver BC , the loss of life in this war was huge, anything today pales in comparison- very brave men. stunning capture.

Point of Information- in 1881 there were FIVE new regiments created from the existing highland corps: The Black Watch (Royal Highlanders), The Seaforth Highlanders (Rosshire Buffs), The Gordon Highlanders, The Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders and the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders. The Highland Light Infantry, despite their objections, were classed as a Lowland Regiment.

When I was a teenager in Australia ,a great man named Jock Watt,he was my neighbor , he was born about 1895 in Scotland. He would tell me of his service in a Black Watch Battalion during WW 1, He said his mob would go and fill the line where there was some trouble holding on..Does anyone know the history of these black watch battalions,?
