I worked on this plane for Apollo in January 1979. This is in Aero Spacelines International Hangar #1. Apollo leased hangar space from ASI. ASI built the Pregnant Guppy's here also. The Hangars are still there. Checkout Apollo Airways / Pacific Coast Airlines on Facebook

This Zia airliner has apparently just been turned back over to its owners, after extensive work in Santa Barbara. The Zia crew is running up the engines shortly before leaving for New Mexico. Comment by the photographer, I. E. Quastler

Zia had just purchased the plane. Our Chief Inspector (Andy) found corrosion on the primary flight control cables so we worked our tails off to replace all of them and make delivery to ZIA on time. Note the similarity with Apollo Airways paint scheme. I guess ZIA liked Apollos design and colors. Aero Spacelines International, ASI, had painted Apollo's planes so they knew the paint colors to copy. That is ASI's hangar in the picture. Same place they built the Super Guppy,s
