    NC-12A Defender, christened August 30, 1929, was a twin-motored ship of 180,000 cubic feet with two 165 h. p. Wright Whirlwind motors. However, it also alternated these on occasion with two 225 h. p. Packard Diesels. It was 184 feet in length, 44 feet in diameter, 330 gal. fuel capacity, speed was 62 mph.     Apparently a photo taken during the construction of either the USS Macon or USS Akron at the Goodyear Airdock in Akron, Ohio. The Goodyear Blimp in the foreground is the Goodyear Blimp Vigilant (NC-11A) a Goodyear Type TZ blimp. Vigilant would be re-christened Goodyear Blimp Columbia in July 1931.
