This image is looking north. The barn was L-shaped. It ran south to north and to then branched to the right heading east. The hay mow area was at the far right of the west to east section of the barn. The actual ramp to the horse stall was part way up the south to north section leading from the left side into the stalls. They had two horses when I was young: Tom and Jennie. Wallace had two German Shepherds as well: Ted and Flossie. The lower south end had a doorway and there were chickens in there. Up above the horse stalls in the north end, next to the actual open mow area was a sort of overflow for bales of hay, whatever. The hay was pitched by us and raised via a pulley into the mow area with the U-shaped clamp unit and then slid across to where he wanted to dump it on the heap. The structure to the side of the house was the milkhouse. Wallace milked his cows by hand. Out by the road to the side of the sheds was a dug cold storage down in the ground. Inside the house was a trap door in the kitchen area; for storage of potatoes etc. The water pump was across the yard towards the barn. Lots of memories from there. The picture of Mom and her siblings harnessing the calves was not how Wayne and I approached it. At age 10 and 12 we just roped them and tried to drag them down. Our own rodeo. Not too successful - me anyway. We picked a lot of blueberries in the hills also with our mother. I stayed there with my older brother Wayne in 1961 for much of the summer, with uncle Wallace. Wallace would lend his two horses to two families up above the old hill just west of the farm; Wayne and I rode bareback up and dropped them off (for haying) and went back to the farm in Wallace's old car with him. We returned sometime later for the horses. Grandpa Charles died 15 Nov 1960; Grandma had died 24 Oct 1939.

This is looking east at the back of the house with the old milkhouse to the right. The kitchen-dining room cot was below the window on the left side of the house. The door on the left of the house led to the back bedroom. The two windows up top are the large back bedroom. Circa year 2000 I think.

I'll go through my (negatives\sleeves of pics) and find out for sure.

That photo was taken on Tuesday 27 Aug 1996. It was done with a Pentax SP1000 film camera. I was with my son and daughter, as well as a brother and his wife. The pic was number 16-Roll 212. Sorry - do not know where the 2012 date came from.
