In 1950, in a special issue reviewing the history of the first half of the 20th century, LIFE magazine devoted several pages to the sensational scandals that surrounded the trials of Millionaire Harry K. Thaw for the murder of Architect Stanford White. He escaped from an asylum for the criminally insane in August, 1913, and fled across the border from New York State to Quebec, but was extradited and sent back to the asylum, only to be released two years later.

So who is the third man, originally captioned Sheriff Henderson?

For that matter, who are the other two?

Ten to one, the one in the middle is wearing handcuffs.

Deputy Sheriff Henderson brought on board Florentino, wanted for a shooting In lllinois." So Bolobilly is right. And this picture would likely have been taken when the Philadelphia docked. But no clues here as to who the other gentleman is.

And that might even be the key to the handcuffs sticking out of the Sheriff's left hand. I think the fellow's name is Fiorentino, if I read the newspaper correctly.
